The Roleplaying Rules

I know we all hate these, but they have to be enforced to make sure everyone is happy while roleplaying. I'll make this quick, I promise.

For Action/Adventure Roleplays:

You cannot be like a god!
No one likes a person that won't get hurt or wounded. So
if their is a fighting scene you are in, you can dodge and block, but also get wounded too, just to make it fair. Also, you can't have god-like powers such as thunder and lighting and laser beams unless the roleplay calls for it.

Thou shalt not kill!
You cannot kill a character...

What is roleplaying?

To roleplay means, basically, to play a role. In a roleplay, you and another person/people make up a story based on a theme where each of you is a character(s), and you sorta become your character(s). Roleplaying is what this entire forum is mainly about. We all get to make roleplays and be a part of them. Well, there's nothing else I can say except for this: I hope you like it here, and have fun roleplaying!

Hi guys!

So lately all I've been hearing about down here in Alabama is Chic-fil-a is awesome! Now I wondered why the hell all of these Christians were suddenly singing the praises of Chic-fil-a. I decided to look it up and whaddya know! Turns out Chic-fil-a hates gay people! And nothing gets a Christian excited like hating people not like them, right?

The mayor of Boston has actually refused to allow Chic-fil-a in his city, which I commend him for. As usual, Christians played the victim and complained. It's amazing how they think "hating is only cool as long as we do it."

Hey guys!

My friend Will's band Out of Shame has put out a music video for their song Source to my Life off of the album Starting Over. If you like Relient K this is right up your alley! Here's a link to the video:

Hope you enjoyed! Just trying to get a good friend of mine some recognition.

Until next time....

Hi guys!

So as you saw on the title of this blog, I'm reviewing the new Linkin Park album. Now Linkin Park is a band that I have a soft spot for. When I was 7 or 8 their debut Hybrid Theory was released. This thing was my absolute favorite album at that time, and it was actually the first album I purchased for myself as a kid. Linkin Park wowed me again with Meteora a couple years later. But then, there was a long break for Linkin Park. During that time I outgrew that style, and found my way into metal. Still, when I heard Minutes to Midnight was coming out, I did go out and pick it...

Hi guys

So I wanted to give my thoughts on the upcoming presidential race, who I like, who I dont, all of that.

So if you've been keeping up with this stuff, you know for the Republicans this is essentially a 2 man race between Santorum and Romney, with Newt Gingrich and my boy Ron Paul having no shot at victory. This is bad people. Santorum has already made a pledge to band pornography, which while I don't personally view it, it still is a violation of our rights to ban it, and he also says he will work to destroy the separation of church and state, one of the MAIN THINGS...

Hi guys!

In honor of Jesse Leach rejoining Killswitch Engage, I have decided to review his classic album with Killswitch Engage, Alive or Just Breathing.

Killswitch Engage at this point in their career were far different than they are now. They were only a 4 piece at this point, with Adam D. on drums rather than guitar. They also played a more driven, more raw style of metalcore as well. This was them at their peak imo, and this is the classic they were able to release at this peak.

The first thing to note is the guitars are well done. They always kelp things interesting,...

Hi guys!

It's been a while, I've been kinda bleh for a while so forgive me. But yesterday I heard a song that people have been comparing to Rebecca Black's Friday and Justin Beiber's Baby. Of course I think, nah, there's no way you can get much worse than that, plus Nicki Minaj can admittedly be kinda catchy. So I listened to the song and am here to tell you that not only is the song Stupid Ho just as bad as the 2 songs I listed; it's worse.

Guys this song is an atrocity on every level. From it's generic beat to it's awful verses to it's unbeleivebly bad chorus, it has cemented...

Hi guys!

Well, with 2011 coming to a close it's time to take a look back on the music of the year. So here we go!

Best Alternative Rock Album:Foo Fighters-Wasting Light
Yeah, the Foo Fighters have won the alt. rock album of the year. But how couldn't they have? Their album was head and shoulders above the rest, the only competition was from Bush, and they blew them out of the water. So the Foo take the award with ease.

Best Debut Album: Ghost-Opus Eponymous
Oh man was this one easy. There were some good debuts to come out this year, but this was obviously...

Wassup guys!

So on this thanksgiving day, I am about 20 pounds heavier, and in the mood for a review. Today I'm tackling Worship Music by Anthrax.

So Anthrax is a member of the Big 4 in thrash. Now Ive always talked bad about this band. I've always said they don't belong in the Big 4, and that's just because there are other bands that are out there that are better. That being said though, they are still around, and have released this album. So will this live up to the hype, or will it fall into mediocrity like the bulk of their discography?

Now the first thing...

Hi guys...

Well the day has finally come. Metallica and Lou Reed have streamed Lulu online, and it's obviously been the talk of the music world the past couple of days.

Now Metallica are coming off of their best album in over 10 years in Death Magnetic. But sadly that doesn't amount to much when you collaborate with Lou Reed, an artist who hasn't released anything good since Velvet Underground back in the 60s. Not only that, but these two artists aren't even close in musical style! So this has all the makings of a fail headed in. But is it?

The answer is hell yes.

Hi guys

Alright so today there is no Georgia game on tv, so I figured I'd write a review. Today's review is for the album American Capitalist by Five Finger Death Punch.

Now I reviewed the single for this Under and Over It a few weeks ago, and wasn't really impressed. However I must admit that the track grew on me the more I heard it, and I actually like the song now a whole lot better than I did. But can the album live up to the song?

Now the first thing I noticed when I listened to this album is that this thing really has a nice groove to it. This is a real strength...

Hi guys...

Well, the 1st song has been released from the upcoming album from Metallica and Lou Reed titled LuLu. This song was released today, and the album is set to release October 31st. Here is my review.

This song starts off with almost a doom metal riff, and I'm not gonna lie, I thought the riff was ok the 1st few times it was played. But the riff was played again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And again. To say the least, it was very repetitive. It was very repetitive. It was very repetitive. Seriously though, the riff literally didn't change for the entire...

Hi guys

So today I'm here to review a Green Day album. It's their newest one, 21st Century Breakdown. So, Green Day are a punk rock band that's been around since the early 90s. They reached their peak with their album Dookie, and regained popularity with their 2004 album American Idiot.

Now I do have to talk a little about American Idiot. American Idiot is an album that shouldn't have worked. Green Day was a band in their 30s trying to create a punk rock concept album. It should have been a trainwreck. But, to the shock of everyone, it worked, and the album was a huge success...

Hi guys

Alright so today I'm here to review an album, and that album is Storm Seeker by ICS Vortex. Now ICS Vortex is a solo project of the former bassist for Dimmu Borgir ICS Vortex. He is widely known in the metal world for his unique voice and dynamic range.

So, the album Storm Seeker is an album of many influences. There's some progressive in this album, there's some melodic black metal, there's some folk metal in here, and there's occasionally a hard rock edge. So is an album with all of this inside any good? The answer is hell yes.

This album doesn't neccessarily...

hi guys

Well today Metallica has pretty much shocked the music world by announcing that their album "Lulu" will be released on october 31st of this year. This also troubling if you're a Metallica fan because they collaborated with singer-songwriter Lou Reed for this album. This album seems to have all the makings of a train wreck, but I guess we won't know until we hear it.

Thats it, just wanted to put this up on here. See ya!

Hi guys!

I'm here today to do a review of Design the Skyline's official debut, Nevaeh. Now, Design the Skyline is infamous in the metal world for releasing one of the worst metal songs of all time, Surrounded by Silence, earlier this year. This song was so bad, many people immediately called DTS the worst hand ever. If you haven't heard it already, here's a link:

So after hearing that, I expected this album to totally awful; I was wrong. DTS has...

Hi thurr!

First off, sorry I haven't written any reviews here in a couple weeks, one will be coming soon.

Guys I was thinking, we should have a music tournament here on TheRPZ. Therefore I'm gonna do one.

So, this is to determine who is the best artist/band according to TheRPZ. As far as entries, just send me a PM saying 2 bands you want entered, and be sure that you leave a link to the song you want that band to be represented by. I will then pair the bands up and that will be the matchups. I'll then post a matchup once or twice a week, until we finally get a winner.

Hi guys!

So today I'm posting a track review for the FFDP song Under and Over it. Now FFDP busted onto the scene 2007 with their debut The Way of the Fist. This album became a success, and began FFDP's rise to fame. I actually kind of liked this album. It wasn't great, but it was a decent release and I had hope that this band would maybe get metal back into the mainstream.

However, now I wish they'd go away. Their follow-up War is the Answer was a pile of mainstream garbage that was filled with awful lyrics, repetitive riffs and below average drumming.

Now we're...

Hi guys!

Alright, so it's time for a list. The best and worst of 2011 so far. Let's start with the best.

Amon Amarth-Surtur Rising
What made it good: While it brought nothing new to the table, Surtur Rising was able to bring the melodies and structure necessary for a good Amarth album.

Symphony X-Iconoclast
What made it good: Symphony X took it up a notch with this record, utilizing orchestra as well as soaring vocals. The best progressive album to be released so far this year.

Ghost-Opus Eponymous
What made it good: Opus Eponymous was...

Hi guys!

So the question this time is what bands or artists have fallen off your radar? What I mean is you were into a band, but then you either forgot about them, or they released a bad album or 2, and now whenever a new album by them comes out, you just don't care.

For me, one band is Killswitch Engage. They seem to be getting worse with every album, and I definantly have lost interest in them.

Another is Nile. Their past 2 albums have been awful, and I have no desire to pick up their next album due out later this year.

There are more, but those are...

Hi guys!

This is just kind of an update type thing, with some insight into the future of Music with Metalman.

Alright, so those of you who keep up with this blog know I haven't a review in forever. And the reason for that is I'm not stoked about my request list. I have no urge to review what's on there right now.

So requests are going to be something that I only do occasionally from now on, that way I get to review what I want to review, and I still take requests and do one every so often. This should actually get me wanting to review again, rather than kind...

Hi guys!

Alright, the question today. How would you grade the music that's come out so far thus year? We are at the halfway point, so I thought it was a logical time to ask this question.

So, I'd give the stuff so far a C. The music year so far has been very mediocre. I mean, there have been some albums that are good, like Ghost's Opus Eponymous, Amon Amarth's Surtur Rising, the new Wolverine album, Septicflesh's The Great Mass, and a couple more. But there have been more bad albums than good, including The Haunted's new album, the new Devildriver album, the new horrendous...

Hi guys!

Yeah its been a while....but Ive been busy with the band so forgive me. I'll write a review soon, I promise.

Alright, so the question is what do you think it means to sell out?

Now selling out, at least to me, is an overused term. Now bands do sell out, Linkin Park and Children of Bodom are prime examples. But I think a lot of times you can feel the change coming. Like with metal band Kataklysm. I think their shift in sound was slowly brought in, album by album, and was more of an evolution, not really a matter of selling out. Same can be said with Kreator,...

Hi guys!

Alright no song review, I'm having trouble finding the song I was supposed to review, so I will do it next time.

Alright todays album is Goodbye Lullaby by Avril Lavigne. Now Lavigne is a pop artist known for having a little bit of an edge, it's a heavier pop rock sound that she's known for. But that isn't the case with this album. It is soft, there are none of the heavier stuff she's known for, I mean from front to back it's a softie. And to me it kinda took away the one thing that seperated her from the other female pop artist. Without the edge, she pretty much...

Hi guys! Time for a review.

First is the song Already Over by Red. This song relies alot on orchestra, not a whole hell of a lot of guitar happening on this song. The vocal is very good, alot of emotion in the song, extremely good. I do feel however a little more could be done with the guitar in some places, and thats my biggest complaint with the song. It's still good though. 8/10

Now for Relient K's Mmhmm. Now Relient K is a Christian punk rock band. This album put them on the map as it was released during the last big wave of punk music to hit, a wave that included Yellowcard,...

I know it hasnt been a week but I've gotta get this back on schedule. So it's coming early.

Hi guys!

First off I'm sorry I haven't wrote a review. Between a vacation and studio recording, I haven't had time. I plan to later this week.

Alright, now for the question, and it's the easiest one in the world. What is your favorite kind of music. But to expand on that, what is your favorite artist in that genre? And what is your favorite song and album in that genre?

I shouldn't have to tell you my genre...

Anyway guys, have a great week!

Alright, time for your weekly question. Alright, now this week's question is this. Is rock dead? Now I'm not talking about metal:overseas acts keep it going strong. But how about rock?

Rock last year did not have a good year. Now you could make the argument that not many big artists came out with anything, and while that is true, you have to look at who did. Linkin Park released an album in November, and compared to what it was supposed to do, it did horrendously in sales. The Black Keys didn't sell very well, Kings of Leon did poorly, I could keep going on. The Mumford and Sons album...

Hey guys! I planned on reviewing this Wednesday, but I got it yesterday thanks to the pre-order. Oh, and no song review on this one.

So Amon Amarth have released their 8th album, first one in 3 years. Amon Amarth is one of if not the most popular death metal band in the world. Their last album, Twilight of the Thunder God, hit #2 on the German charts, and #1 on the Swedish charts, as well as garnering honors and solidifying a massive fanbase. Now IMO they're coming off of their best 2 albums, so obviously this thing has a lot to love up to. So did it?

Alright now this album...

Review time! Finally right? Anyways...

First, Miku, whatever the song was (I just went blank.) I wasn't digging this, music was average, didn't care for the vocals, I didn't like anything about it, but that's how it goes. 2/10

now, Insane Clown Posse. Now me and the Clown Posse go way back, I remember them when they were on WWE, and all that stuff. I used to sorta like when they wrestled, but I never was a giant fan. Then, I heard their music. The first album I heard was Bang Pow Boom, and that album was atrocious. But how about Carnival of Carnage?

Now the beats...

Hey guys! First off, let me say I apologize for not writing a review this week, I meant to write it yesterday but I didn't feel so good, and I didn't. Expect it later today.

So the question this week is will 2011 continue to be a good year in music. So far, we've had some great releases such as:Ghost's Opus Eponymous, a new Protest The Hero album, a new Yellocard album, a new Amon Amaryh album, a new Human Abstract album, I mean it's been fantastic so far.

But I haven't seen much promise coming from late this year, at least not yet. It's rumored there will be a new Tool album,...

Alright the question this week is what kind of headphones do you use?

Now I personal favorite is Bose. I have a 2 year old pair that I use at my house and they're still great. I don't take them out of the house though, they're too big. So, when I'm out, I have a pair of Skullcandy ear buds. They're good, and unlike other buds, actually last for a very long time. I've had my current pair for a little over a year now.

So what kinds do you guys use?

New review coming at some point during the upcoming week. Until next time

I'm back! It's late, but what the hell.

First is Aria by H.Miku. Now, Ive never heard of this, so I can't give you any info about the song. However, I can tell you what is sounded like. Now, the music is a big part of this, and it's ok, but its nothing that is fantastic. The vocals are almost annoying to me, I didn't care for them. This song to me was just kind of...blech. 4/10

Now MJ's Bad. Now this is an album that everyone knows, and most people love. Now I'm gonna keep this short. The songs are all very well produced and are catchy, and the vox are pretty friggin good,...

Are major labels bad for music? That is the question. Now, major labels are mainly for pop, rap, and mainstream rock artists but there are major metal labels as well such as Metalblade Records, Century Media, Relapse, etc. Now the reason I'm asking this is because major labels and bands that sell-out kinda go together. Bands such as Linkin Park, Kreator, War of Ages, Mudvayne (even though Martinie is still the man), Destruction, and I could keep going on and on.

Now in my personal opinion major labels have good and bad things about them. On one hand, bands get exposure, better quality,...

it's time! And I've got a special album review today....

But first, I'm going to review the song Give Into Me by MJ feat. Slash. This song is actually a song that didn't do well on the radio, despite the positive things said about it. Alright, this song has a steady guitar presence due to Slash, so there isn't much synth or samples floating around in the back. No hard hitting bass either, just a typical song formula here. I cant say anything bad about this song. It's really good. 9/10.

Now, Slipknot. Slipknot is a 10000 piece from somewhere in a deep hole in Iowa. Not really...

I'm finally sitting down to write this! I know I'm late, and this is probably the most anticipated review I've ever had, but you can forgive me for taking so long, right?

1st is the track I stand alone by Godsmack. This was the first song I heard by them, they were getting huge at the time, and you couldn't help but hear this everywhere. This is also my favorite song by them. From beginning to end on this track, it's guitar heavy. Really crunchy sounding guitar. Vocals are good, drums carry it but thats it, bass is there. I really like this track, it's a goodie. 8.5/10.

by JZilla - Comments: 9 - Views: 392

Time for more!

Now as I promised Xaria, I will start off by reviewing scream by MJ. Now, the first thing that jumps out at me is there is no solid backing track, but rather drum samples with a hard hitting bass. MJ splits the vocals with Janet Jackson, which works well. The best parts of the song happens when everything kicks in on the bridges and chorus, and they carry the song. To wrap this up, it's a solid track thats consistant and although it's not super catchy, it works. 8/10.

Now, the main attraction. Bieber My World 2.0. Now, unless you've been utterly cut off from...

Time for another Music with Metalman. This time I have Paramore's Riot to review. They are a band that is still in trouble due to the Farro departures, but thy shouldn't be going anywhere.

The music now, uh, it isn't my cup of tea. Riffs are pretty forgettable, bass is ugh, drums are good, vocals aren't bad, but...aren't for me. In fact, the vocals can get a bit irritating at times. But again, this is coming from a guy that ain't a big fan.

Production is....typical major label stuff. Not overproduced, not underproduced, it's got the sound it intended to have.

I'm post a blog no one reads! But I do it anyway....(sigh)

Anyway, this review is for Ghost's new album Opus Eponymous. It's also their debut album. This album is receiving great reviews and is rapidly growing in popularity overseas, already locking up a main stage act for some major festival over there, and all that stuff. But the thing that makes these guys interesting is they're completely anonymous. They dress up in these cloaks and stuff, it's really cool.

This review is for SOAD's Toxicity. Now this album isn't in a style I like, but it is not bad.

The tracks never quit moving forward. Basically all the elements in Hypnotize are here, but they're executed far better as it comes off more clean sounding on this album. The production is great, as you'd expect seeing as it's on a great label.

Standout for this album would be the vocals. Serj just has a unique style, it's very cool.

Pros:Vocals, production, and drumming

Cons:Songs, though they're short, can get a little repetitive.

I'm gonna give...

Hey guys, I'm back with a 5th review for System of a Down's Hypnotize. I'm sorry I haven't done this in a while, I just haven't felt up to it lately.

Now, this album is......odd. It's SOAD, so you have to expect the unexpected. This album is pretty cleanly produced, I don't know who produced it, but it's well done.

The songs? Kinda underwhelming. None stand out except for 2 or 3, but I'm pretty vocal about how I'm not big on this kind of music. There's not much going on with the guitar, the drums are pretty good, but the vocals are the best part of this album and this band....

My 4th review. This one is of the Black Album, which is in my opinion the last great Metallica album. It was also the first album to be produced by the dreaded Bob Rock.

Now if you had just listened to old Metallica and nothin else, than immediately you would realize this album is different than all the old stuff. Not in neccessarily a bad way, but it was. These tracks were heavy, but weren't very thrashy. Now for this album did the style correctly. Obviously it spawned abominations in later albums. So, this album has great production, guitars obviously highest on the mix, drums and...

3rd review. So Evanescence is REALLY good stuff. They've always been a guilty pleasure of mine, and I've liked alot of what they've released.

So Fallen is the typical Evanescence album, some heavier tracks, but the standouts are the piano tracks, the moving ones. This album is awesome. Now this album instrument wise isn't gonna blow you away, it's pretty simple, but it works. The standout and what makes this album is the vocals. I mean come on, who wouldn't agree?

As for the tracks, they're all good, excellent vocals on each track. As earlier stated, the playing? Simple. And...
